Mosaic offers many different types of investment opportunities. In order to protect you, the investor, we may only show project details to investors who are financially and geographically qualified.
Currently our investments are limited to residents of California and New York or accredited investors who are residents of the United States. For individuals, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) defines an accredited investor as someone who has:
Income that exceeded $200,000 in each of the last two years or joint income with a spouse that exceeded $300,000 in each of those years, and has a reasonable expectation of reaching the same income level this year; or
Net worth (excluding equity in the primary residence), individually or jointly with a spouse that exceeds $1 million.
Additionally, some projects allow investments by persons who are not accredited investors but meet certain criteria indicating that they meet the SEC's investment sophistication requirements. In such cases, we may offer Notes to investors who have an economics, business or finance degree (undergraduate or graduate), and/or have worked in a finance-related job for at least 12 months.
Institutional Investors also participate on our platform. Different suitability requirements apply to institutions.
We are working to expand this opportunity to more states and eventually other countries, however, we do not have a set timeline for expansion as much of it depends upon regulatory approval.
